SLA 3D Printed Valves
06
Printed series of valves with different diameter nozzles to fit on a beverage dispenser.
The goal of this project was to find a way to reduce the flow rate of a beverage out of a typical fast-food beverage dispenser. This is both to improve precision as well as make it more easily handled by a robot. The solution was to design and SLA print a series of valves with differing diameters that could each be tested to see which one showed the most consistent lesser flow.
In order to attach the valves to the dispenser, they were designed with crush-ribs so that they could be manually friction-fitted onto the nozzle (hence the finger-holds). In total 8 of these valves were tested and one was eventually chosen to be used for all future testing of the machine.
